Mara & Scott met 11 years ago in the Army at Fort Riley,Kansas, where Mara was a MEDEVAC Blackhawk Helicopter Crewchief and Scott was a pilot. Back then, they were strictly friends.
After the Army, they still managed to keep in touch as life took them on different paths. When business brought Scott toFlorida last February, he caught up with his old friend Mara.
- Mara & Scott had a ‘first glimpse” of each other before the wedding which allowed them to take lots of photos early.

“We had not seen each other in over 10 years, and it was great catching up and reminiscing about old times. He also met my son for the first time, and they bonded immediately,” says Mara.

Since that lunch, the two of them spent as much time as they could getting to know each other again.

“It did not take long to fall in love since we shared so many things, and got along so well, as if we only last saw each other recently rather than 10 years ago.”
- There ceremony had no guests. Just the groom, the bride, her son, and the friend who officiated the wedding.
Scott popped the question on New Year’s Day 2011, and Mara said YES! They came to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates to book their super intimate wedding.
- Dinner for two was set up on the Ford Riverside Lawn. Dolphins were spotted all afternoon!
“From the very beginning, we knew we wanted our wedding to be just about us and my son. May 5th at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates could not have been more romantic and perfect.”
- The First Dance on the Ford Riverside Lawn overlooking the Caloosahatchee River.
- A friend made a small wedding cake for just the two of them to share.
